We caught up briefly with Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble after her brilliant presentation at the Citizen Journalism, New Media and Activism colloquium convened at DePaul University by African and Black Diaspora Studies.  Dr. Noble summarized her presentation and work, specifically, her essential and critical look at the ways in which activists (we all) are often undermined by our not considering enough how the Internet works more as state surveillance and big business than as a method/tool for liberation.*
