2 generations of depoliticization and a higher education/media complex accepting of the maxim that there is no alternative to capitalism help lead to a lack of ideological clarity and maturity.
Coupled with the enhanced atomization of the individual in the extreme capitalism of today, leading to a social media-ized culture of ME (replete with endless testimonials to the self) and there you have it.
