Love each interview with Mtume and hope this really is a recurring segment. I have a couple topics/questions that I would love for y’all to discuss on the next one.
1. After decades of suppression, what are your thoughts on the recent restoration of “The Spook Who Sat by the Door” by the Library of Congress of all people? Related to this news, a few years ago Lee Daniels shot a pilot for a television show version of “The Spook Who Sat by the Door” for FX in Maryland and Republican Governor Larry Hogan “excitedly welcomed its production.”
2. What obstacles does a writer/director face when independently trying to make revolutionary/black cinema in 2024?
3. Have you all read Kim Jong II’s “On the Art of Cinema” before? If not, I’m sure that even just a quick glance at its table contents will spark great discussion between you all.
